Managing Partner
In addition to his role as the Managing Partner of LaunchPort, Bob is Managing Director of The MVR Company, which focuses on the assessment and creation of new ventures, with a particular emphasis on medical technologies. He is Chairman and board member for a number of early stage Medtech companies.
He is appointed as Vice Chairman of the State of Maryland’s Life Sciences Advisory Board, and has been active in efforts of collaboration between the FDA, Payors, Device companies and Providers to develop a high value medical device demonstration hub in Maryland.
Since mid 2020, he has served as a Portfolio Executive for NIH’s RADx initiative to speed innovation in the development, commercialization, and implementation of technologies for COVID-19 testing.
He is currently serving as the Evaluation Director for Neurotech Harbor (an NIH collaboration between Johns Hopkins and Howard University that focuses on investments in neurotechnologies), serves on the External Advisory Board for the Johns Hopkins Center for Biomedical Innovation and Design, the Strategic Advisory Board for Johns Hopkins Laboratory for Computational Sensing and Robotics, the JHU Applied Physics Lab Technology Commercialization Panel, the Investment Review Committee for the Bisciotti Translational Research Fund, and is the Johns Hopkins advocate for medical device and engineering investment submissions to the Maryland Innovation Initiative.
He is the Medical Device expert for the National Institute of Health’s I-Corps @ NIH™ program, is a Nationally Certified Instructor for the National Science Foundation’s I-Corps™ and was active in the development of the NIH NCATS/CTSI I-Corps program. In his role at the national level, he is the principal instructor for life science lean innovation programs at numerous universities around the US. He has led international cohorts in the Lean Start-up area in Asia/Pacific, Middle East, South America and Africa.
